FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Qovia COO to Participate in Two Security Panels at Internet Telephony® Conference & Expo

Steve Mank to Discuss Network Intrusion’s Impact on Enterprise IP Telephony QoS

Frederick, MD January 19, 2006Qovia, Inc., the technology and market leader in enterprise IP telephony management, today announced that COO Steve Mank will participate in two panels about security January 27, 2006, at the Internet Telephony® Conference & Expo. Specifically, Mr. Mank will discuss network intrusion’s impact on enterprise IP telephony Quality of Service (QoS).

“IP telephony is the new infrastructure for voice communication,” said Steve Mank, COO of Qovia. “Voice over IP (VoIP) and using an Internet Protocol infrastructure provide many benefits to enterprises, such as deployment cost reduction and convergence of data and voice. However, VoIP does introduce new security vulnerabilities.  Existing data security measures are a good start, but fall far short.  Enterprises planning to deploy VoIP need to develop equally effective security strategies targeting session and application level issues.  I look forward to the group discussions about VoIP Security issues, their impact upon service assurance and reliability and why effective management is the key to a more secure IP telephony environment.”

The first panel, “Back to School with VoIP Security,” will be moderated by Barry Marks of IntelliCom Analytics and take place from 8:30-9:15 a.m. In addition to Mr. Mank of Qovia, the session will include representatives from NetClarity, pbxnsip, and Ranch Networks. The group will address what is required for a robust, secure IP telephony network. It will also provide answers to questions such as what does an enterprise need to be aware of before rolling out a converged network? And how can an enterprise protect itself against the growing number of vulnerabilities that may attack the VoIP infrastructure?

The second panel, “Challenges of Enterprise VoIP Security,” will be moderated by Jonathan Zar of VOIPSA and take place from 12:15-1:00 p.m. In addition to Mr. Mank of Qovia, this session will include representatives from Broadwing Communications, NetIQ, Nortel and Ranch Networks. The goal of this panel is to help enterprises prevent, detect, and react to security problems in an efficient manner. The participants will help attendees see beyond traditional security tactics and understand the importance of safeguarding the entire network, especially in the new vulnerable area of VoIP.

“We are very pleased that Steve Mank will be participating in this year’s show.  Qovia is widely recognized and respected as a leader in VoIP management, and I am confident that our attendees will appreciate and value the opportunity to hear his perspective on VoIP security,” said TMC president and conference co-chair, Rich Tehrani. “Over the past twelve months, widespread adoption of VoIP by global service providers, businesses and governments has reinforced that this exciting technology is a viable, cost-effective communications solution.  As a result, we are seeing a significant number of senior-level executives attending Internet Telephony® Conference & Expo as a means of learning about the technology so they too can take advantage of its benefits.”
