Qovia Selected as Software Newcomer of the Year by Software & Information Industry Association

Codie Award Recognizes Value Qovia Offers to VoIP Industry, Quality of
Qovia’s Software Engineering Team

FREDERICK, MD May 26, 2005 –– Qovia, Inc., the technology and market leader in monitoring and management products for enterprise IP phone systems, today announced that the company was selected Software Newcomer of the Year at the 20th annual presentation for the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) Codie Awards.

The Codie Awards is the only peer recognition program and longest-running awards program in the software and information industry, acknowledging the industry’s most innovative products and services, and commending corporate excellence and philanthropic efforts. This year, over 800 companies submitted more than 1,000 nominations, breaking previous Codie Award records. First round judging was completed by a broad panel consisting of representatives from the industry trade press, mainstream technology writers and industry experts and analysts, and is based in large part upon actual demonstrations of the product and its performance. Second round judging was based on votes from SIIA members.

“A Codie is one of the most esteemed and respected awards that an engineering team can win,” said Choon Shim, chief technology officer and senior VP of engineering at Qovia. “This recognition by SIIA is evidence of the quality and depth of the team we have assembled. For a company of our scale to have as large an intellectual property portfolio as Qovia does is a stellar achievement for a stellar software engineering team.”

“The 20th Annual Codie Awards continues SIIA’s tradition of celebrating the best products in the software and information industry,” said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA. “Being chosen as the winning company from among so many fine nominees is a tremendous achievement. SIIA congratulates Qovia, Inc. on their recognition by this prestigious and important award.”

“For 20 years, the SIIA has honored innovation in the software industry and the hundreds of nominations submitted this year demonstrate just how highly regarded the Codie Awards have become,” said R. Pierce Reid, VP marketing at Qovia. “Unlike traditional phone systems, which were based primarily on hardware, VoIP phone systems require not only hardware, but also very advanced software. As a result, VoIP systems need the same kinds of care and feedings as other software-based networks in order to maintain reliability and quality of service. Qovia’s VoIP monitoring and management product is designed around software built from the ground up specifically for enterprises running converged VoIP networks.”

Qovia offers the only suite of products designed-from-the-ground-up for monitoring and managing the voice portion of IP networks to ensure call quality and network reliability. In addition to offering its award-winning Qovia® VoIP Monitoring and Management System (VMMS) software, the company has an extensive intellectual property portfolio with patents filed in areas ranging from call quality measurement to VoIP security. The company recently announced that it is conducting research into wireless VoIP management technologies and is ideally positioned to adapt its Qovia VMMS products to the growing wireless VoIP market.

The 2005 Codie Awards were presented at a black-tie gala on May 25, 2005, at Universal Studio’s Globe Theater in Universal City, Calif. For a complete list of 2005 Codie Awards winners, visit http://www.siia.net/codies/2005/winners.asp.
