Your website is the focal point for all of your marketing efforts: It should broadcast your brand, showcase your expertise and engage your targeted visitors to connect, share, and return. In short, you should feel proud to broadcast that URL (that’s a web address, to those of us without the nerdy glasses)!
bytes & words has a solid history of developing engaging websites that are user-friendly, dynamic, and highly visual: They look great, work well, and get folks their information quickly. Our clients are nonprofits, professional services companies, start-ups, retail concerns, and restaurants.
bytes & words develops sites built on flexible content management systems (CMS), including Joomla and WordPress, to offer the widest range of possibilities to clients. Most clients want some control over their website, at some point, and a CMS with user-friendly editing tools offers this option. More importantly, CMS-based sites offer virtually unlimited expansion into any direction your digital marketing may take you. This means we get to say “yes, you can” more often without you needing to break the marketing piggy bank.
bytes & words‘ solutions are search-friendly by nature, from the code structure, to key terms placed in Google’s favorite places: We don’t just list zip codes for the robots to index. Many degrees of search optimization are available, as is ongoing advice about what we’ve seen work for others. Our wish for you is a lasting organic search ranking, one that doesn’t evaporate when you stop paying Google or SuperIndex R Us. We encourage adding Google Analytics to learn where your traffic is (or is not) coming from. And if your customers are on the move, we can help with a responsive, mobile website solution.
In 2006, bytes & words partnered with founder Kimberly Bell of SPEECH PATHways, a leading Maryland Speech Pathology Clinic, to kickstart marketing for the Clinic’s diverse therapy services and community programs. We first developed a corporate brand and applied it to several affiliated programs and then created a highly visual and user-friendly website, completely rewriting and redeveloping content. We integrated Constant Contact Email Marketing to get the word out about programs, classes and the philanthropic efforts and supported several phases of Facebook graphic redesign.
Through the years we have worked with SPEECH PATHways to focus digital and print marketing — including brochure and exhibit design — to help grow the business into various channels. In 2012, the Clinic moved to a much expanded facility in Westminster, Maryland, securing its place of prominence in the business community and the lives of Maryland kids and families.
bytes & words has contributed significant time since 2008 to the SPEECH PATHways Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that seeks to improve the lives of Carroll County kids with special needs.
In 2009, bytes & words partnered with founder Marie Noplock of The Maryland Therapy Network (TMTN), a Baltimore-area Speech Pathology Clinic and Job Service, to quickly and economically re-create their online presence. We built the new website with a simple template backed by the Joomla content management system and pumped up the color/branding to give it visual appeal. The new site highlights its dual mission of working with families and agencies along with placing skilled staff throughout the region.
From creating a user-friendly website, we went on to assist TMTN with its marketing efforts by developing an eye-catching, informative brochure and a tabletop exhibit. bytes & words continues to host the site and provides updates/advice as needed; in 2012 we optimized the site with key terms in partnership with TMTN’s marketing agency.
In 2006, the owner of LIBERATORE’S Ristorante & Catering — a Baltimore area family restaurant group with 6 locations — approached bytes & words with help for a website that was not functioning. We helped revive the site and provided them a quick graphic makeover (using existing site template code) to help the site function better as a marketing hub.
Over the years and through the recession, bytes & words has maintained the LIBERATORE’S website and email system, integrated a strong regular email marketing program with Constant Contact, and managed/integrated their official Facebook page. In 2011, we redesigned and expanded the LIBERATORE’S website with a content management system to more dynamically present information for all locations, each with their own menus, events, specials and marketing focus. In 2012 we incorporated OpenTable into their website, Facebook page and email marketing and developed a mobile version of the restaurant site. We continue to work closely with the LIBERATORE’S family and staff across locations to improve their organic search ranking and bring customers to their tables.
In 2008, bytes & words began working with Maryland Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) to professionally brand the Association and revitalize marketing and communications to the statewide population of licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Since then, we have worked closely with MSHA to engage members through the website, email communications and Facebook while reducing administrative costs.
I hired Mollie as a contract writer/instructional designer for various e-Learning programs. Mollie took on each new project with enthusiasm. She diligently worked on writing well-written and thorough storyboards that exceeded expectations, and she managed the content development process with several very difficult clients, with ease….always keeping the learner at the center of the process.
I have had the great pleasure to work with Mollie McCormick on several e-learning initiatives over the last 15 years. Mollie is a highly creative instructional designer and writer, with excellent acumen of adult learning. She is highly dependable, meets deadlines, and goes the extra mile on every project I have ever worked with her on. During a recent project — a WBT course on global awareness in healthcare (developed for a large health care insu…

Congratulations on the new [MSHA] website. It looks contemporary, professional and for folks like me is easy to navigate. I am proud of the new look and format. Please pass along my kudos to all who were involved – I know it takes a lot of work and planning to look this fresh.
The website looks great! Thanks so much for your work and your patience with the process.
Amazing! You make me sound like I know what I’m doing!
Mollie is bright and creative. She is easy to work with. She understood what [MSHA] wanted and delivered a website that looks great. I highly recommend Mollie and her company.
It was a pleasure to work together with Mollie on the Carroll County Restaurant Week promotion. She went above and beyond our expectations for designing a new website, handling social media marketing on the Facebook page, and keeping all of the information on these sites current. Mollie is very thorough in everything she does and can be depended upon to get the job done. She is dedicated, methodical, and very capable.
