Challenge
Across the National Park Service Learning & Development teams, various stakeholders and team members were finding it hard to gather or provide useful content to design scenario-based learning.
My Role
As Senior Instructional Designer for the Visitor and Resource Protection team I revised a handout that I had created for subject matter experts to share with the team.
Action(s)
I applied prior knowledge and training in Cathy Moore’s scenario development method to expand a 2-page handout with tips and a template for sparking ideas and recording of scenario-based content, then shared the handout across L&D and ad hoc with stakeholders across NPS.
Result(s)
Subject matter experts, regardless of content area, were able to follow the guidelines and template to provide designers with content that could be used in developing various kinds of scenarios (questions, simulations, etc.). Designers continued to share the handout to enable application of knowledge and skills across curriculums.
