A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS
Mollie R. McCormick
With roots in editorial production and software development, I founded bytes & words in 2000 to help startups, nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses bridge ideas to action through instructional design, web development, branding, and digital strategy. Over the past decade, I’ve built on that foundation through trade industry work and federal service with the National Security Agency and National Park Service—advancing evidence-based training, learning modernization, and workforce development.
This site showcases my broad range of competencies across workforce training in industry, healthcare, life sciences, skilled trades, and government, informed by a technical training skillset and acumen for managing and navigating change within organizations to enable data-driven decision-making.

A Data-Driven Mindset
I apply a learning engineering (LE) mindset—going beyond ADDIE to understand the challenge training is meant to address (including learners, context, and team resources) then iterating based on data from the solution itself. I draw on expertise with performance-focused surveys and leading industry frameworks/instruments to gather and analyze data. The result: Fit-for-purpose solutions that evolve through continuous improvement.

A Change Management Lens
I specialize in turning learning research into real-world results—guiding not only projects but the organizational change behind them. As a Prosci® Change Management Practitioner and team lead, I align cross-functional teams to deliver innovation that advances both learner and organizational goals. This perspective allows me to engage and build strong relationships across disciplines and silos and help people engage in transformation.

Tech & Thought Leadership
I stay connected with the learning community through the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and active engagement with IEEE’s ICICLE (International Consortium for Innovation and Collaboration in Learning Engineering) and the Total Learning Architecture Study Group (advancing standards for learning architecture and technology). Combined with skills in rapid prototyping and AI-supported design, this commitment to lifelong learning drives innovative, evidence-based solutions that help organizations and learners thrive.
