Challenge
The International Training Fund (ITF) helps fund training for members of the United Association (UA) of plumbers and pipefitters. ITF asked Mosaic Learning to revise training for Trenching and Excavations Safety into Introductory and Advanced training tracks while incorporating new immersive techno logies (Student Resource App and Virtual Reality practice) into the training pathway.
My Role
As Lead Instructional Designer, I was responsible for revising learning objectives and content to create two levels of the training pathway and propose a workflow for including the Student Resource App and Virtual Reality practice training.
Action(s)
After analyzing the existing content, I worked with stakeholders and experts to break modules into two pathways, introductory and advanced, and build new brief introductions that introduced the Resource App and strengthened foundation for the VR practice training. After analysis and approval of the concept in Miro, I developed initial introductions then handed this off to a junior designer and supervised its completion.
Result(s)
The resulting revised 12 SCORM- and HTML5-compliant modules set learners up for using the Student Resource app and safe, immersive learning through VR. The VR component enabled simulated practice in a dangerous setting and the Resource app acted as a job performance tool post-training.
